Do I need to purchase a license to use a logo from BrandCrowd?

Yes, in order to download and use a logo from BrandCrowd, you need to purchase the appropriate license first.

Why do I have to pay monthly or annually for a logo?

When purchasing a subscription, you are not paying monthly or annually for just a logo - you also to get access to our whole design platform which includes many design tools and thousands of templates to help you create designs for business cards, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, letterheads, email signatures and even websites.

In summary, we offer a design platform for all of your design needs - not just a logo. Once you’ve had a chance to explore our range of design tools, we are confident you will see the value of our packages!

What are the different licenses that you offer for designs?

We offer 4 types of licenses:

- Free License: Available for a small selection of logos. This gives you non-exclusive rights to use the design. Other users will be able to purchase and use the design as well.

- Standard License: This gives you the non-exclusive rights to use the design. Other users will be able to purchase and use the design as well.

- Exclusive License: This buys you the FULL intellectual property rights to the design. The design will then be removed instantly from the store and will no longer be available for purchase.

- Buyout License: Your design will be removed instantly from the store and will no longer be available for purchase. This means that you are the last person to buy this design. Please note that people who purchased it before will retain the rights to use the design as well.

By default, all Premium Logo Packages include a Standard License. You may upgrade to Exclusive (if available) or Buyout License at an additional cost, by going to My Account > Logos and clicking the "Upgrade License" button found next to your logo preview.

What is a Standard License?

This is a license that gives you the non-exclusive rights to use the design. Other users will be able to purchase and use the logo template as well. This is the default license in all of your packages.

What is an Exclusive License?

The Exclusive license will get you the full intellectual property rights to the design. The design will then be removed instantly from the store and will no longer be available for purchase. Note that not all logos will have the Exclusive License available.

What is a Buyout License?

The Buyout License is a non-exclusive license that will remove the logo template instantly from the store and will no longer be available for purchase. This means that you are the last person to buy this design. Please note that people who purchased it before will retain the rights to use the design as well.

Will the Standard License allow me to use the logo however I want?

Yes! The Standard License gives you non-exclusive rights to use the design in any way you wish: online, print, creating variations, etc.

Should I upgrade my Standard License to an Exclusive License?

By default, all Premium Logo Packages include a Standard License. This already gives you the non-exclusive rights to use the design in any way you wish: online, print, modify it, etc.

However, if you’d like to take things a step further and be the only person who owns the logo, the Exclusive License may be the right choice for you! This will remove the logo template from our marketplace before anyone else purchases it and you will be able to trademark it if you want.

You may upgrade to Exclusive License at an additional cost, by going to My Account > Logos and clicking the "Upgrade License" button found next to your logo preview.

Note that not all logos will have the Exclusive License available.

How can I own the full rights to the logo?

You can do this by upgrading to an Exclusive License. Doing this will remove the logo template instantly from the store and will no longer be available for purchase. This means that you are the only person who owns this design. Note that not all logos will have the Exclusive License available.

If the Exclusive License is available, you may upgrade it at an additional cost, by going to My Account > Logos and clicking the "Upgrade License" button found next to your logo preview.

Please note that if you cannot see the "Upgrade License" button next to your logo preview, it may be because this license is not available anymore for this logo.

Can I trademark my purchased logo?

You are only able to trademark a logo after purchasing the Exclusive License for it. You will need to do this via your local Trademark Office as this is a service we don’t provide.

Please note you shouldn’t trademark a logo that you don’t own the Exclusive License for.

Can I use the logo I purchased for commercial purposes?

Yes, once you purchase the logo, you can use it perpetually for both personal and commercial use.

What is the difference between the Buyout and Exclusive License?

The Exclusive license will get you the full intellectual property rights to the design. The design will then be removed instantly from the store and will no longer be available for purchase. On the other hand, the Buyout License is a non-exclusive license that will remove the logo template instantly from the store and will no longer be available for purchase. However, people who purchased it before will retain the rights to use the design as well.

Note that these are mutually exclusive. This means that if a logo has a Buyout License available, it means the Exclusive License is no longer available for this particular logo.

What is the pricing for each of the licenses?

The pricing for each of the offered licenses is as follows:

- Standard License: This is already included in the pricing of your Premium Logo Pack. You may check the different design packages available at checkout.

- Exclusive License: You are able to purchase this license as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-off payment. The cost of each can vary but it’s typically $15/month, $60/year or $145 one-off purchase.

- Buyout License: You are able to purchase this license as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-off payment. The cost of each can vary but it’s typically $12/month, $36/year or $100 one-off purchase.
