What does the lock symbol mean next to jobs?

If a project in job list has a lock icon next to it, this means the project is a private project.

A private project has the following characteristics:

designers must be logged in to view descriptions of what the project is about
project details become hidden once the project has closed
private projects are not exposed to general visitors of the site that are not logged in
private projects can not be found on external search engines such as Google.

Once you are logged in as a designer, you should have no trouble in submitting to these projects as they are run just like a normal project. Please note that you will not be able to include any of your designs submitted to a private project in your portfolio.
